These technologies are many and varied, and are devised as cost effective and practical means of tackling the very real problems which African people experience when living in conditions of extreme poverty. The solutions promoted by Self Help are ones which rely on the active participation of the local communities with whom we work - they are answers which often stem from the beneficiaries themselves, sometimes come from the appropriate government ministry – but which all ultimately can only succeed if the local communities, or the individual farmers themselves, are given a real sense of ownership of the activities themselves.
