Diary of a Field Officer provides readers with a behind the scenes look at the work of one of Self Help's agricultural extension workers,  and the challenges that they face in their daily lives
Initiatives and Technologies
        
Self Help has developed, embraced and adopted a wide variety of innovative technologies to assist it’s beneficiaries to achieve sustainability in their lives in rural sub-Saharan Africa.

These technologies are many and varied, and are devised as cost effective and practical means of tackling the very real problems which African people experience when living in conditions of extreme poverty.

The solutions promoted by Self Help are ones which rely on the active participation of the local communities with whom we work - they are answers which often stem from the beneficiaries themselves, sometimes come from the appropriate government ministry – but which all ultimately can only succeed if the local communities, or the individual farmers themselves, are given a real sense of ownership of the activities themselves.
