How you can help

Self Help Africa believes that the continent's poorest people will only see real and lasting change to their lives through long term rural development programmes like those we are supporting.

In the past quarter century our 'self help' principal has enabled hundreds of thousands of people to lift themselves out of extreme poverty.

Whether you are interested in starting a 'staff fund' in your work-place, join one of our fund-raising field visits to Africa, support one of our campaigns, buy from our gift store, or volunteer to help our work in your area, there are lots of ways that you can help.

The full list of activities, events, programmes, gifts and more are listed under the main headings on the left hand side of this page.

What difference will it make?

Getting involved with Self Help Africa makes a difference to the lives of the people we work with.

By supporting systems for the distribution of improved quality seed we enable farmers to grow more food, and by supporting irrigation we help communities to diversify their crops and withstand drought.

These are just two of the many ways that we are making a difference - ways which are only possible with the backing that we receive from you.
