Self Help's annual Autumn fund-raising trek took place in 2005 to Malawi, with more than 50 supporters of the organisation travelling on a 12 day trip to the southern African country.
The group, who travelled with a party of Irish GAA stars and an RTE camera crew filming a television documentary, visited villages and communities at Self Help's projects in Dedza, and Zomba, and also spent time at Lake Malawi, and at Liwonda National Park during the visit.
The Malawi Trek was led by RTE 'Fair City' actor Pat Nolan, while also in the travelling party were broadcasters Tracy Piggott, Mary Kennedy, and Dungarvan man Con Lane - who has not missed a single trek since they were started by Self Help in 1999, and once more brought a group from his native Waterford with him.
